Alexandra, Princess of Wales (future Queen of the United Kingdom) when did she become queen and how long was she queen for?
Alex and her husband, Bertie (the Prince of Wales, Victoria’s eldest son, and second child) unfortunately spent most of their lives as the Prince and Princess of Wales as Victoria lived so long! When Vic died in 1901, Alex became Queen of the United Kingdom (January 22nd).
She then lived on as Queen for 9 years, until the death of her husband in 1910. Alexandra was still affectionately referred to as Queen Alexandra (though Mary would have truly been the Queen) after her husbands death, until 1925 when she passed away herself.
